Beating bad Poker Players
While playing poker against a professional player is a very challenging experience, playing against a weak player also has its challenge. They move frequently lack the most minimal traces of logic. They are constantly reacting to others, rather than making everyone react to their moves. The conclusions you may make based on those moves are very unlikely to reflect their actual hand strength. Therefore, you will need to use different strategy or make some adjustments to it. You can lose a lot of money very quickly by being aggressive and getting sucked out on the river or quartered hand after hand
Try not to bluff too much, just make the obvious play. Bet when you have a hand, and check or fold when you don't. You will be called by some player who wants to keep you honest. Because most weak players call too much and stay in the pot far too long with weak hands, the best way to beat them is by betting for value, not by bluffing.
Let's face it, they may be weak and bad players but they are also fish and they like to chase draws. They sometimes call too much. Instead of folding, they keep playing. Before you even decide to tangle with a bad player make sure you have at least a decent hand. Play those hands aggressive and make them pay to chase draws. Try to play aggressively from early position with the big pairs but realize that they won’t hold up as often. Pocket Aces will win the majority of times against a small field but will only hold up about 35 percent of the time against a full table of calling stations.
Don’t try slow play or try to get too elegant. Bet the best hand if you have it. The straight forward approach is usually the best as there are plenty of players who will call you. Make them pay. Why give them a free card if you don’t have to.
While weak or new players are easy targets during games, caution must also be taken when dealing with them. You may find yourself also be open to be targeted by other players, as you are too much focused on the particular player. Therefore, it is wise to frequently take note of other players at the table in order to avoid being targeted.
